What does digital implant planning mean?
The implant itself is an industrially manufactured artificial tooth root made of titanium. „Digital“ in modern implant treatment means primarily planning and manufacturing the dental prosthesis that will later be placed on the implant. Three components work together in this process:
- 3D X-ray (DVT/CBCT): shows bone height, bone width, nerve course and jaw cavity in three dimensions.
- Digital footprint: An intraoral scanner captures teeth and gums without leaving any trace.
- CAD/CAM manufacturing: The crown, bridge or abutment are designed on the computer and precisely milled in the laboratory.
Step 1: The 3D recording
A normal X-ray image shows only the jawbone flat. The 3D volumetric tomography On the other hand, a spatial image provides information. This way, before the procedure, it can be determined whether there is enough bone present, what implant length is suitable, and whether bone reconstruction is necessary.
Step 2: Planning on the screen
Based on the 3D data, the position of each implant is planned – with a view to the future dental prosthesis. The goal is for the implant and crown to later match functionally and aesthetically. This makes surprises during the procedure less likely.
Step 3: Digital print instead of ink
The intraoral scanner creates an accurate digital model of your teeth in just a few minutes. This is more comfortable than a traditional impression and provides the laboratory with accurate data.
Step 4: Dental prosthesis from the CAD/CAM laboratory
After the healing phase, the dental prosthesis is designed and milled in Denis-Focus Dental’s in-house laboratory, for example from zirconium. Because the clinic and laboratory are located under one roof, adjustments can be made directly on site.
