What is a Maryland bridge – and who is it suitable for?

One Bar prosthesis is the ideal solution when all teeth are missing or can no longer be saved – and you don't want a completely removable denture, nor do you want elaborate fixed dentures. Two or more implants are anchored in the jaw and a custom-made Step connected. The prosthesis snaps onto this bar – a secure, stable hold like fixed teeth, yet removable for cleaning.

Our oral surgeon checks for a sufficient bone supply for the implants using a digital panoramic X-ray and 3D CT on-site. The entire treatment is planned digitally – from the implant position to the tooth color.

Three components – one perfect system

Implants
2–4 implants are gently anchored in the jawbone. They serve as anchor points for the bar and transfer chewing forces directly to the bone – like natural tooth roots. Straumann, Camlog, or Alpha Bio – depending on the individual situation.

Individual bridge
The bar connects the implants and forms the precise base for the prosthesis. It is custom-made anatomically – CAD/CAM precision in our in-house laboratory. The bar remains fixed in the mouth, and the prosthesis snaps securely onto it.

Digital prosthesis
The prosthesis made of BioHPP PEEK with Ivoclar Premium teeth is precisely matched to the bar. Dimensionally stable, chew-resistant teeth in 16 shades – you actively participate in determining the shape and color.

How long does the entire treatment take?

The total treatment includes implantation, 3–4 months of healing time (Osseointegration) and then the prosthetic phase with a bar and prosthesis. During the healing period, you will wear a comfortable transitional prosthesis. The prosthetic phase typically lasts 3-5 weeks. Denis-Focus schedules all appointments to keep the overall duration as short as possible – thanks to our in-house laboratory, there are no external waiting times.
