Root canal treatment

A promising way to save a tooth from the forceps!

Our aim is to save as many teeth as possible and there are cases in which root canal treatment is the right preliminary therapy.

A root canal filling is sometimes the only way to preserve a tooth, to save an inflamed tooth. The alternative would be extraction. Find out how our specialist dentists at Denis & Focus Dental Clinic can help you find a worthwhile and medically sensible solution.

Caries can cause bacteria to penetrate the root canal. This does not necessarily have to be accompanied by pain. The germs migrate along the nerve towards the jawbone. The body defends itself against the invading bacteria by means of an immune reaction in the area of the root tip. This is usually associated with discomfort. In the past, the tooth had to be extracted. Our specialist dentists may try to save the tooth with root canal treatment.

    How does the treatment work?

The inflamed nerve is removed, the root canals are expandedthe root canal gecleans and disinfects (is cleaned with a Medication supplied) and then the canal is sealed. Our experts use a computer-controlled reciprocating system for root canal treatment, which enables maximum precision and is the best way to prevent bacteria from remaining. Root canal treatment can take several appointments until the inflammation has subsided. Only then is the root of the tooth sealed with a filling material to prevent bacteria from entering. For reasons of stability, it is usually advisable to subsequently restore the tooth with a crown and a cast post.

    Toothache or tooth sensitivity?

The nerve also ensures that you feel cold and warm and that you feel the touch. However, the nerve in the tooth, which extends through thin tubules into the crown of the tooth, can also be devilishly painful. This is when it is infected by caries or bacteria. This causes inflammation of the tooth nerves, which then attacks the bone. The tooth becomes sensitive to biting and loosens, which can ultimately make it necessary to remove the tooth. To prevent this, our specialist dentists will recommend a root canal filling.
