Reimbursement of costs by Austrian health insurance companies
The procedure is similar for all insurance companies, but private insurance packages may contain different conditions. Important: The application for reimbursement is always submitted to the health insurance company by the patient themselves. Our clinic provides all the necessary documents and hands them over to the patient. This ensures that the reimbursement is transparent and is received in full.
What do you need to bring to the first appointment?
- E-Card / European Health Insurance Card
- Insurance number
- Name of your health insurance
(The e-card cannot be used for planned dental treatment, but only for emergency treatment).
What documents do we provide?

Medical justification (medical justification), if requested by the health insurance company
Panoramic X-rays / CT scans taken as part of the treatment
All documents are always issued in German.
Submission procedure in Austria

- The documents can be submitted before, during or after completion of the treatment
- The reimbursement is made as a fixed amount, not as a percentage
Which treatments are most frequently reimbursed?
- Panoramic X-ray
- Oral hygiene
- Fillings
- Prosthetic treatments (crown, bridge) - in medically justified cases and to a limited extent; a medical justification is required for this
- Periodontal treatments - case-by-case decision; medical justification is also required for this
Rare or non-reimbursed treatments:
Implants and purely aesthetic treatments without medical indication.
If additional documents are requested
The health insurance company may request additional medical documents. The patient receives these and then forwards them to our clinic. Once completed, we send the documents back to the patient so that they can submit them to the health insurance company. Our clinic is not in direct contact with foreign health insurance companies; communication takes place exclusively between the patient and the health insurance company.
Time of payment
As a rule, costs are reimbursed after the entire treatment has been completed. At this point, we will issue a total invoice (total bill) confirming the completion of the treatment.

What happens if the health insurance company requests additional documents or a medical justification?
Please forward the documents received from the health insurance company to us. We will fill these out and send them back to you for submission. If a medical justification is required, we will also prepare this for you.
When will the reimbursement be paid?
Payment is made after completion of the entire treatment. Our clinic issues an invoice for each treatment appointment and a total invoice at the end, which confirms the completion of the treatment.
Why doesn't the clinic submit the documents directly to the health insurance company?
Although Hungary is a member of the European Union, our clinic, as a private healthcare provider in Hungary, is not allowed to be in direct contact with foreign health insurance companies. Communication therefore takes place exclusively between the patient and the health insurance company. This procedure guarantees a transparent process and ensures that the patient is fully reimbursed.
Terms of payment
Our payment system is based on the treatments actually carried out. After receiving the cost estimate, the entire treatment plan is broken down transparently into individual installments. The installments are allocated to the respective treatment dates so that you only ever pay for the services performed on the day in question. This means that there are no hidden or subsequent costs.
Before treatment begins, you know exactly: the total amount, the individual installments and their due dates.
It is not possible to pay the entire treatment amount in advance, as payment is always made on the basis of the services performed.
Payment is made on site in cash or by bank card. Bank transfer is not possible.
