Sinus lift - bone augmentation of the upper jaw

Sinus lift is a surgical method used in maxillofacial surgery in which the bony floor of the maxillary sinus is reinforced.

Without this operation, almost half of all implantations in the upper jaw could not be carried out. But: not with every Implantation bone augmentation is necessary. This is only recommended for indications such as insufficient bone in the height and width of the jaw.

The bone recedes, if the jaw has been edentulous for a long time or has been inadequately restored after tooth loss. For example, a full denture that is intended to replace the teeth but cannot do so optimally in terms of chewing force and load. The body breaks down the unused bone because it no longer receives any signals that would justify maintaining the bone structure. Neither by the chewing pressure nor by the chewing load. Both are only rebuilt when implants are placed that simulate the natural tooth root and can therefore replace it.

For the Sinus lift treatment we use synthetic BioOss material. The procedure is routinely performed without complications. Our patients receive a temporary denture for the healing period so that they do not have to remain without teeth.
