Bone augmentation
Bone augmentation for dental implants
Bone augmentation is a routine procedure that you need not be afraid of. With increasing age, chronic periodontitis (inflammation of the gums) due to tooth decay, people lose their teeth, and the bone substance of the jawbone decreases as a result. As a result, the tooth root finds less and less support in the receding bone - until it falls out. The causes of bone loss are for example also the regression after the removal of a tooth.
Your jawbone remains strong and firm as long as it is loaded. The teeth above the tooth roots exert pressure on the bones when chewing. If there are no teeth, this pressure is absent. The bone recedes further and further. The jawbone can be so thin that dental implants would not find a hold in it. They would protrude too far out of the bone, even with the smallest possible implant size.
If you want to close a gap or an entire jaw with the help of implants, the question arises as to whether the existing bone substance provides sufficient support for these artificial tooth roots or whether bone augmentation is necessary.
The possibilities for bone augmentation are diverse and the requirements for each patient (if necessary at all) are very different. For this reason, a detailed examination by our experienced specialist dentists is necessary beforehand, which patients at Denis & Focus Dental Center receive free of charge and without obligation as part of the initial examination. The doctors will also discuss with you in detail the exact procedure that is individually tailored to you.
We have been using synthetic BioOss material for bone augmentation for 20 years and have achieved very good results. We are very proud of the fact that the successfully performed operations are risk-free and provide the basis for a stable dental prosthesis.
Our patients receive a temporary denture for the healing period after the bone augmentation. This means that we never let anyone go home without teeth!
